Attributed with confidence to the very fine workshop of J & JW Meeks, NYC, circa 1860's
It is our pleasure to present this Beautiful Victorian Rococo Laminated Rosewood J & JW Meeks Stanton Hall Parlor Set. This set is so named after the namesake set at THE STANTON HALL MANSION in Natchez, Mississippi that was purchased from the Meeks firm in NYC, circa 1860's.
This prestigious Meeks Stanton Hall pattern ensemble consist of a fine Settee, a wonderful Arm Chair, and a pair of attractive Side Chairs. Presented in elegant, restored condition and clad in verde and tan Damask upholstery material fashioned in the tasteful double French Flute design and includes the tasseled accent pillows.
The Arm Chair has a laminated rosewood back, and the two side chairs have medallion cut out upholstered backs. Other features are a floral carved cartouche amidst open scrolling, reticulated foliate carvings, serpentine seats, cabriole legs, and raised on casters.
Like Meeks Stanton Hall pieces can be found in the Reference book, Furniture of the 19th Century by Richard & Eileen Dubrow, pages 99, 100, 112, & 118 and in person at the Stanton Hall Mansion.
