Beatrice Wood is one of the best known contemporary potters in the US.  Perhaps best known for her lustre glazes, this is a very fine example of her work.  A contemporary with Gertrud and Otto Natzler and Otto and Vivika Heino.  A long time resident of the Ojai California community she was highly shown and collected in the Los Angeles area.  She was larger than life even inspiring the main character in Titanic.  One of her best quotes:, when asked why she lived to be over 100+, she smiled and said, "young men and chocolate".

This bowl would add to any mid century modern collection.
