4 GREAT ORIGINAL UK 45s AT A KILLER PRICE!
WE CAN WORK IT OUT/DAY TRIPPER (PARLOPHONE 5389 UK 1st pressing w/scarce "small font" label print, 1965);
I FEEL FINE/SHE'S A WOMAN (PARLOPHONE 5200 UK 1st pressing, 1964);
A HARD DAY'S NIGHT/THINGS WE SAID TODAY (PARLOPHONE 5160 UK 1st pressing, 1964); and
CAN'T BUY ME LOVE/YOU CAN'T DO THAT (PARLOPHONE 5114 UK 1st pressing, 1964: slight warp that doesn't affect play).
Guaranteed 1st pressings of four of The Beatles' early hits. Six hits, actually; both I FEEL FINE and WE CAN WORK IT OUT featured B-sides (SHE'S A WOMAN and DAY TRIPPER, respectively) that were hits in their own right. These
UK Parlophones are pretty tough to find over here in the States, and
U.S. collectors are getting hip to these scarce originals.
The first three of the four singles are clean VG/VG+ examples. We play-graded CAN'T BUY ME LOVE, and the gentle warp in the vinyl doesn't affect play. At this bargain price, consider it a throw-in!
Only one lot available...Here's why U.S. collectors should take a good look at adding original Parlophone UK 45RPM pressings to their collections:
1) These singles are as The Beatles intended them, mixed to mono by The Boys and George Martin. Foreign companies did their own mixes. U.S. Capitol messed around with Beatles releases, even changing the flip sides (and altered their LPs, too...the real meaning of the "butcher" cover was that The Beatles were sick and tired of Capitol butchering their albums!)
2) The recordings are clearer. Capitol often used second or third generation tapes for U.S. releases; the UK singles sound better!
3) These are absolutely the first release of Beatles 45s anywhere in the world! And they're much scarcer than U.S. singles; Capitol's orange-and-yellow swirls were produced in the millions, and Parlophone catered to a much smaller UK population. These UK originals were generally pressed in the mere hundreds of thousands!
Go ahead and pick up the U.S. 45s for their pic sleeves (believe it or not, only 2 Brit originals had picture sleeves: Strawberry Fields and Let It Be). You'd be wise to add the historic Parlophone 1st pressings while the price is still reasonable!
