I bought a used Babylock Ellure last month. When it arrived I had to take it for repair, probably jostled in shipping. After repair it works fine. My machine came with a Magic Box to write designs from my computer to a card in the Ellure. The Ellure works great, has a 5"X7" embroidery field which I find large enough. The one thing to be careful of is threading. The first time I didn't thread it properly and the thread wound around the tension unit, very hard to unwind it and get it out. Be careful, check your thread before you start and get yourself a good pair of tweezers just in case. The newer models of Babylock have USB connections, I don't miss it since my older model came with the Magic Box. I decided to buy a used Ellure because of price, size of embroidery field, and confidence in the brand. I am happy with it.Read full review
I love this machine! I was looking for a sewing machine I wouldn't "outgrow" and Babylocks get high marks for quality and customer service. I have been using a 1970's Singer for most of my life, and getting this Ellure with all the features was amazing. When I first started doing my research, I originally had planned to purchase the Melody, but I found the Ellure at a better price so I went for it and I am not dissappointed! Ellure has the embroidery functions, and I love having that option even though I have never done embroidery before. The only downside is that there is no USB port, so I'll have to buy PES / HUS Embroidery Transfer System (like BuzzBox or Palette PTS) to get any decent designs and those run around $200. The built in designs aren't that exciting but the fonts are usable. In general this is a great machine, I love have the automatic threader. It doesn't come with a rolled hem foot or walking foot, so you'll probably end up buying a few more feet for it. Also, I recommed taking a user class at your local dealer.Read full review

Costume, puppet, and mascot designer and builder. Needed a starter machine for my daughter. I already own a Bernina and Baby Lock, and have two Baby Lock sergers. Excited to use this one, but it won't stitch more than 10 stitches before the thread breaks due to tension issues not solvable without professional help. Thinking it will be a great machine once that issue is fixed. I definitely love a Baby Lock! :)
