Yamaha has made some beautiful turntables, and this is certainly one of them. Gorgeous, full-wood look with aluminum accents. Pure manual operation, no tricky mechanics involved. Straightforward Direct Drive design with an 8 pole, 24 slot DC servo motor with high torque. Very heavy, and thus resistant to vibrations.
Fitted with a true Denon classic: the DL-160 high output Moving Coil cartridge in excellent condition. Together, they make some serious music!
A new microswitch was placed for speed selection because the old one had become unreliable, the potentiometers were cleaned, and new, high-quality capacitors were placed. This turntable will last another 35 years easily.
The dustcover was polished to a great shine, there are still some very minor scruffs but it looks very very good. The cabinet has no issues at all, a little bit of oxidation on the back side of the hinges which could also be easily polished off.
USA/Japan buyers: this machine can run on 50 or 60 Hz so a cheap transformer will make this work without problems.
