This is a solid performance microphone that is a workhorse meaning it sounds good on just about any source. It is a medium size diaphragm Mic so it responds to transient sounds really well. I personally am not a fan of it on my own vocals but have used it on others (especially female voices) with great success. Overall it's definitely a Mic you should have in your collection.

This is my first high end mic purchase. I have been recording and mixing for 20 plus years. The detail and clarity of this microphone is amazing. I am truly impressed. It revealed details of my accoustic guitar the were just stunning . I love it...

This mic has been a welcome addition to my locker. It delivers transparent and quiet recordings and the most useful patterns at a very reasonable price. My only complaint would be that the shock mount design makes it difficult to mount the mic, which has to be pulled though a tight rubber band, catching on the switches. Also, there is very little clearance between the metal mic housing and the shock mount ring, and since they are both made of metal, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with scratches on the mic before long.
I bought the AT4050 based a lot of research that indicated the AT4050 is a very natural sounding and versatile condenser mic. I alos borrowed one from a friend so I could test it myself. My primary uses are recording very high quality acoustic guitar and vocals. Maybe Drum Overheads at some point. The Mic sounds just wonderful on Acoustic guitar and is equally natural sounding on vocal recordings. This mic comes with three switch settings; Omni, Cardioid and Figure 8. The Omni setting is the most neutral, clean and airy sounding, but your recording environment needs to be dead quiet as it will pick up every sonic nuance that's going on in the room. Same with Figure 8 setting. The Cardioid mic setting is a bit more directional, and also a little fuller and richer sounding. So I chose to use that for my vocals since I have a high/thin male tenor voice. The Mic comes with a very useable mic stand shock mount that is essential for a mic that captures everything in the room. Build quality of the mic is exceptional, and it has quite a solid reputation in professional recording communities as being as a high end mic for everyman dollars. I heartily recommend this microphone. It does everything well. You can't beat it for the price. I can't think of any of large diaphragm condenser mic I would prefer want or could even buy for anywhere near the same money. This is a GREAT microphone. That comment is based on my own research, personal experience and the advice of recording engineers who know a lot more than I do. 5 Stars!Read full review
It's been a few weeks with mic and I've tried it in vocals and all sorts of instruments. Lots of detail and a smoother high end, compared to other mics that I own. Great mic.
