You are bidding on a pair of Atomic SX-11 Supercross Skis with the matching Atomic SX 412 Binding (look excellent together). The DIN range on the binding is 4 -12. Resizing the binding to fit boots is straightforward and does not require redrilling. These bindings allow the entire position of the boot/binding to be changed forward and back without tools depending where you would like to be on the ski. There are four positions from which to choose - the total range of the positions is about 7/8 inch.
The ski is awesome because you get the construction of Atomic’s famous GS ski with the side-cut more of a recreational ski. Great for weekend/league racing, master’s racing, carving, skier cross (if you so choose) and serious hard pack. I loved this ski and so did the critics. Trust me when I tell you, if you are looking to do what I just described, you will love the response, stability and hold.
I’ve had these for several years but, I’ve only have used them sparingly for race training and an occasional race (I’ve not used them in at least 4-5 years). I have multiple skis so I’ve never needed to use these as my everyday/free ride skis. The skis have NEVER seen a machine for either base grinding or edge grinding. The bases are in very good shape with very little scratches or cuts (please take a look at the pictures). The edges are near perfect. The tops are also in extremely good condition with only a few normal usage scratches.
I have only used (or had my ski shop use) hand tools – the base bevel is currently 1 degree while the side angle is set to 2 degrees. They are sharp, waxed and ready to go. The original selling price for this ski and binding combination was $1195.
"There’s something elemental about Skiercross. No clocks. No rules. The first one to the bottom wins; the last one buys the drinks. Keep your wallet in your pocket, though. You’ve got the SX:11 under your boots."
First Impression: Angry.
The Incredible Hulk of skis, the Atomic SX:11 almost left me speechless. As prepared to test these, to be honest my mind was on other things. But soon as I got off the first lift I found that someone wanted to play.
The Atomic SX:11 just wanted to go fast; they gave me the grip, control and stability to really fly around the runs and corners that Avoriaz could offer me.
I have not skied many pairs of Atomics, there is no particular reason for this but I am never going to under estimate the Austrian brand again.
Arguably one of the best ski cross ski I have used to date, meaning I would have to think twice before reaching for the Dynastar Ski Cross 10 in the morning. I would say a worthy bench mark for all other manufacturers to aim for. Atomic’s passion for racing pedigree seems to traverse well into the SX:11, a highly strung ski which seems to obey every command.
After these and their Slalom counterparts the SL:11, I am looking forward to what Atomic are going to do for 2004/2005!
