This board is the baddest S775 mobo on the planet!! It is made for extreme overclockers or gamers looking to get the max frame rates out of a Core2 E8600 or Q6600 quad! In capable hands it can easily reach 600-630 FSB! However, in order to do this you must first tame the hot NB chipset and PWM vreg chips. There are many decent water cooling solutions for this from the likes of Mips, EK, Danger Den, Koolance, and Bitspower. I have tried several of these options and have found that the Bitspower all-in-one NB/SB block and their AMOS I PWM blocks are the best in terms of performance. That and they don't hurt the eyes either! Besides working with Ati cards out-of-the-box, this board can also be made to work with nVidia cards with an easily done BIOS upgrade. There are many threads at various overclocker forums (like Xtreme Systems.org, {H}ard Forums, AnandTech, Overclockers.net, etc) extolling the virtues of this board with step-by-step instructions on how to attain maximum performance out of your CORE2 Duo or CORE2 Quad cpu. Xtreme Systems has a 2700+ post thread that gets into quite a lot of depth on how to max out the performance of this beastly mother board. I would recommend at least a decent batch E8600 (Q820A) or a Q6600 quad for gaming set ups. The Q6600 would also be the cpu to use if you are a folder/cruncher looking to set up another rig to find cure for whatever the World Community Grid is searching for currently. If your budget allows, try a Q9650 or a QX9650 if you can find a decent one on the used market. These quads will fare better in competitive benching. This board will not disappoint...as long as you take the time to finesse it properly. This is not a mother board that you can overclock via "brute force". Once you figure it out with the help of the many well written guides out there you will be well on your way to the best and fastest S775 system you've ever owned! This motherboard absolutly rocks! I purchased it at about half the price it was when first released and found a Q9550 processor for about $170.00. The first time I booted it up I went into the bios and leveled up to Q9770 and have been there for almost three months with no errors. For under $400.00 this work station is super fast and stable for a quad core. I have it set up with four operating systems on a 0-raid striped drive set up and with quick boot it takes only about 30 seconds to change the OS. I recomend a 64 bit OS as it will allow you to utilize all eight gigs of memory. I've been throwing everything i can at it and it keeps on going. I have now added two ATI 3870x2 vid cards in cross fire and WOW! The video is amazing to say the least. I am a liquid cooling freak and this board was created with that in mind. Lot's of cool stuff included in the box and I've used most of it in the build. I would highly recomend this board to anyone who is looking to build a core II (775) based machine. Now that the price is more affordable for (in my opinion) one of the best boards from ASUS. Have fun shopping, RocknrollhoochiecooRead full review
I will admit that I haven't been able to properly test it yet but it shipped with good quality and while used, was obviously looked after, even had the CPU cover back on it. Happy dealing with you.
