Overall impressed, I've only had it for a few days but haven't been disappointed. Quick thoughts below: Pros: * Good design overall, easy upgradeability (e.g. HDD/SSD), rigid backplate (plastic, but doesn't feel cheap). * Nice aluminum cover with orange accents that light up. Not too garish though, still feels somewhat minimalist. * Screen hinges are sturdier than expected, although still slightly worried about them long-term. * Decent fan vents, speakers. * Performance of course, with Skylake i7 and 1060 (supposedly much better than 970M or even 980M, haven't stress tested it myself yet). Neutral: * Decent keyboard with 9 key numpad, a little bit cramped but can't complain much. Key travel and tactile feel is OK. Backlighting is only red, would prefer white or other color selection. * The usual bloatware, some stuff to remove (e.g. McAfee), but not too bad. Cons: * Not a fan of the touchpad, but it's OK. * Thick screen bezel, looks kind of old fashioned compared to other laptops, e.g. Dell XPS. Notes: * Have not evaluated battery life yet. Update 1: * Battery life seems to be not that great, approx. 4 hours. Other online sources seem to get higher numbers. This model does not have NVIDIA Optimus graphics switching, that's why the battery life is poorer than other models. Supposedly the older model with the 970M does have Optimus, so it probably has better battery life. * The "End" key is very poorly placed, the power button is where it should be. Bit annoying, but still not a major flaw. Update 2: * Reducing from 5 stars to 4 stars due to the battery life. * Also noticed that my unit will 100% BSOD if put to sleep with an external display connected via HDMI upon wake up.Read full review
