I dare you to click on my Ebay Store link to the upper right...you won't believe what you will see in there...its shocking...its orgasmic...its eye popping...if your brave...then enter!

When you think of some of the iconic patterns coming out of the Art Deco period of the 1930's...patterns like this come to mind that really symbolize the movement in shapes and especially colors with this particular pattern...stripes with some deco tropical leafy scroll work was a very popular companion print to some of the more outrageous dramatic large barkcloth prints of the period...but also versatile enough for some of the more cottage shabby chic florals...Miami Beach and the boutique hotel scene was rife with this style of textiles...as were boutique hotels on the West Coast of California during the same period...California doesn't get nearly enough credit for its celebration of barkcloth because my travels never led me those hotels...whereas Miami Beach was my stomping ground...where I could tell first hand stories of my hunts through old closed down hotels from urban flight...so barkcloth was alive and well on both coasts...as well as Hawaii during the more the 40's, 50's and 60's...and similar designs were trending in Shanghai China who was mirroring what was happening in South Beach...if you google "Shanghai Art Deco architecture" you will see the style of buildings are identical to the Miami Beach...the vibe of Art Deco with similar styles that trended more along the lines of lotus flowers and bamboo designs on fabrics more satin than cotton and not as heavy as the barkcloth we in America celebrate...in Miami Beach it was common to see striped patterns such as this as mixed matched prints on a club chair...where the entire chair would be covered in a yellow ground tropical floral barkcloth and the cushion and arm covered were a stripe...and coordinated as draperies and companion bedspreads too...what I really love about this drapery panel...is that it really encapsulates the Art Deco Miami Beach style I remember...the colors...a fabulous lemon yellow ground with chocolate brown...true pale lavender purple...melon pink...white and a touch of bold lime...these were the colors of the hotels...common that you could find hotels side by side each in one of the colors in this drapery panel...so always nice to run into these old patterns again this many years later...I mean what are the chances of that!

This auction is for ONE DRAPERY PANEL....I have an exact match also available. Its in amazing...beautiful condition...washed and strong as it can be...measures 44 wide x 81 long with a 2 inch hem...expect decades left of use...these panels have been used...but limited use...even the back sides have no evidence of being hung...no fading except down one tiny edge of one side of the hem...in absolutely glorious condition...with enough bells and whistles to really know your socks off! :) xo
