Long time linux user, sick of windows, but wanting better hardware and software compatibility than I could accomplish with Ubuntu, I looked toward mac. I chose this model as it's still got enough specs to run the latest version OS X (Lion), and was equipped with an intel processor (giving the ability to dual boot with windows/run microsoft programs). Came with the full 2gb of RAM possible, wouldn't run one with any less. Unfortunate that it can't have more, but machine is not easily bogged down as is. Built in cam, great software included in OS X, and the wonderful firewire port (something you cannot get on a comparably priced pc) for excellently fast read/write speeds when used with an external hard drive. I dislike the touchpad, it offers slushy response, and physical resistance making it difficult to click and drag. The single button click is annoying as well, but thankfully a regular usb mouse can be used, and OS X does support the left click as well as scroll wheels. Also supported are a fantastic array of keyboards, enabling me to use my favorite old dell board. Battery life is so so, but really depends on how much use you expect to have when off cord. I advise that you bring the charge cable along, it's perfectly portable. Upgrade to at least Leopard, recommend Snow Leopard even, and one should be happy for a long time to come. A great option for those just entering the Mac world and not requiring a mondo computer with massive graphical abilities.Read full review
This is a very good computer for beginners and experts. I bought this one because by wife and grandkids occupy by other one all the time. I use this for Final Cut Pro and it works great. Anything I need to run in windows, is done on this machine. In fact, windows runs better on this laptop than it does on my PC laptop. I also have two iMac desktops. I tried to run OS Lion, but it would not run some of my other software that I really need, like File Maker Pro, Final cut, Microsoft Office, but wait ..... zutts.... I can run Os Lion and Snow Leopard on the same computer. I like the color (can spot it in a crowded room), I don't mind the weight (I can tell when i've left it behind) and the size is perfect. I use one for all of my online stuff, and the other pretty much stays offline, but if I need it, it's just a click away. Excellent system.Read full review
The Apple Macbook is an excellent consumer level laptop. It provides very reasonable quality build and excellent features at an inexpensive price. I've been very impressed with my Macbook. While it does not boast all of the features or performance of Apple's Macbook Pro line, as a basic laptop it is first rate. I highly recommend the Macbook to anyone who is looking for good quality, not too expensive laptop for basic to moderate computing needs.
Great laptop. A little hard to figure out at first, not a electronic wizard, but slowly got it. Very happy with it. Thank you.

Why spend upwards of $500- $1,000 for a new laptop which is going to crash, require service and constant attention to system instability and be out dated within 12 months? You don't need to when plenty of Apple Macs, Mac Books & Mac Book Pros are available. Oh that's right Macs are too expensive...NOT! Refurbished Macs are the best computer deal going. They're forwards & backwards compatible and their Operating Systems are the most stable, ever. I just wish my 6 year old G5 would break so I can get a new one. Six years and never a crash, never a virus. Macs are the best thing going, New, remanufactured or refurbished, they're all better than any Windows based system I've owned and I've owned many. Now looking at 3 PC towers & 4 PC lap tops that have been retired and declared D.O.A.
