This is a wonderful antique Victorian wool blouse from 1890.
Look at those huge leg-o-mutton sleeves! They aren't stuffed with tissue paper, they still have the old boiled starch on the cotton lining that makes them rustle like brown paper bags. It is a very cool sound... and I don't think my can of spray starch would last 122 years...
It has a velvet stand up collar with two satin buttons. Four matching buttons run down the right lapel.
The cuffs are 4" at their widest point and are covered in black velvet.
The trim down the front of the blouse is watercolor silk in a paisley pattern. The silk is not fractured and is still sturdy.
It is completely lined in brown polished cotton and has 9 metal stays, and has no rips nor tears.
All of the hooks and eyes are present.
This is a very nice blouse and I don't see any mending that is needed, or moth munchies. It is in excellent condition.
Bust underarm to underarm 28" waist 23" sleeve length 29 1/2"
The brown wool and velvet bustle skirt will be listed soon.
This is from my mother and grandmothers collection. In my listings you will find items from 1850-1980.
Like antique clothing? This collection of dresses and accessories is vast I hope you keep watching.
I accept PayPal, and ship within two business days, and often the same day as payment. I am happy to combine items when possible. Shipping for this item is for the continental US. International bidders please note- I do not mark forms as gift. I do not end auctions early. I prefer but do not insist upon shipping Priority Mail for international sales as it carries insurance and can be tracked. Customs fees are the buyers responsibility. I do not charge handling fees.
Please remember almost all of the garments I sell are 120 years old to 40 years old. They were made for one individual long ago before the Big Mac was invented and not all bodies are the same. While I strive to be totally accurate in listing any imperfections, occassionally a small thing is missed. About a third of my customers are repeat customers, so they already know a great deal in a unique antique item. I hope you will too!
