Antique PORCELAIN RELISH DIP TRAY Carl Tielsch Germany Floral
Gold Trim Leaf Pattern
A rare two part relish dish, decorated
from a Carl Tielsch blank made between 1875 and 1934.
We are pleased to present this stunning
floral pattern relish dish from the Tielsch factory of Altwasser,
Germany. Embellished with lovely purple, yellow, red, and green
floral patterns, this relish dish features ornate gold patterned
trim and gilded handle. It comes with a pair of matched cups
which have very similarly beautiful floral patterns and gold
trim.
In 1845, Carl Robert Tielsch founded
the porcelain factory Carl Tielsch & Cothe in the city of Altwasser
together with his partner Gideon von Wallenberg (a banker from
Wrocklaw). In 1861, Tielsch was awarded the title of the Royal
Trade Counsellor in acknowledgment of his contribution to the
Silesian industry. His son Egmont Tielsch became his successor.
The Tielsch factory is producing to the present day and is now
called "Fabryka Porcelany Walbrzych S.A.".
The relish dish is 1 foot across and
10 inches long. The two cups measure 3 1/2 inches and 3 inches
in diameter, respectively. Together, the set weighs 2 3/4 pounds.
This relish dish has a chip on the
left side of the top rim, though it is hardly noticeable, as
well as a crack in the bottom. This crack (see photo) is stable
and will not interfere with the presentation of use of the dish.
Similarly, the smaller of the two cups has a hairline crack,
although this does not prevent the cup from holding liquids.
For display purposes, this relish dish set will make a lasting
impact.
Perfect as a decoration or used as
a serving tray, this relish dish is sure to make a great impression.
