Found in an estate sale, you are bidding on an antique Arranbee "Dream Baby" doll. The doll has a bisque head with sleep eyes and open mouth showing teeth. Body is cloth and hands are composition. The doll (without dress on) is 10" long. From my research, the head was made for Arranbee from an Armand Marseille mold. Neck is marked GERMANY ARRANBEE and then what appears to be "620/2". The doll is wearing a long lace dress and several undergarments that appear handmade.
The bisque head on this doll is in GREAT shape for its age. NO chips, NO cracks, and paint is in excellent condition. Cloth body shows age but no major tears. Composition arms definitely show their age and have loss to the outer paint (see photos). Dress and undergarments have yellowing and some staining, all shown in photos. The sleepy eyes on this doll work, but eyelid paint shows some wear (shown in last photo). If you hold the doll completely vertical, the eyes look slightly upward and not straight forward. The doll looks straightforward when it is held like a baby (when cradled). Again, please see all photos, there are lots!
