William Soutter & Sons: Antique, 19th.c English Brass Coal Hod Scuttle. Renaissance Revival style.

Urn or Acorn shape pot with lid mounted on three large grotesque 3 toed prehistoric Eagle bird like claw feet which are massive with incredible detail. 2 very expressive Face Masks hold the large Brass ring handles.

William Stoutter and Sons was a prominent Brass manufacturing company in Birmingham England that formed in 1760. Age of this piece is unknown, but probably early to mid 1800's.

What a Stunning piece! My research has not turned up anything similar by this or any other company. A Real Rarity!!

 

Dimensions:
14" dia x 19" high overall. The pot itself is 14" high.
 
Weighs 18.2 lbs. unpackaged.

Condition:


As Found. Antique wear and patina. Oxidation spots in interior. No major damage, just some dings from age. See photos for best description.
