ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This
gramophone classic and rare LP from Columbia (SAX 2335, English EMI pressing,
blue/silver label – ED1, stereo, original inner sleeve included) features the
wonderful Annie Fischer in radiant accounts of Mozart's Piano Concertos No. 20
in D minor K. 466 and No. 23 in A Major K. 488, both taped in 1959 with Sir
Adrian Boult and the Philharmonia Orchestra – these recordings can withstand
the most exalted comparisons, be it with Schnabel, Casadesus, Periaha, Uchida,
et al. Incidentally, in K. 466, she plays Beethoven's cadenzas.
If
this were all that Annie Fischer left us we would still be forever in her debt.
Happily, the engineering is quite fine too – outstanding!
Incidentally,
on the reverse side of the jacket there are superb liner notes – in English
only – by Burnett James.
CONDITION
– PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The
gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very
Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The
condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is bumping at corners,
discoloration, and a small bit of writing to the rear panel, but that is all.
However, there are are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other
defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and attractive – overall,
a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP
itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really
this is a fine copy and the playback is quite superb. Those requiring CD silent
surfaces are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an
excellent collector's copy.
