A well provenanced, ancient Egyptian faience amulet of Nefertum, dating to approximately 664-323 B.C., Egypt's Late Period.

A rare depiction, showing the God of fragrence standing with arms held at the sides, striding forwards and wearing striated, belted kilt, tripartite wig, beard of Osiris, uraeus and lotus-form menat-flanked headdress.

The piece is pierced at the back of the amulet for attachment to a necklace or collar in antiquity.

Height: 2  1/8 inches.

Condition: Very good. Unrestored.

Provenance: 

From the estate of Mrs. M. Pearman (d.1999).  Pearman was a passionate collector and scholar of hieroglyphs, who lived in Alexandria from 1936-1944, where she acquired a collection of Egyptian bronzes, amulets and other related antiquities.
