Page Illustration for Searles: Sixth Reader
c. 1940-1950

A two-page illustration board for pages 370 and 371 of Sixth Reader by Anna Hawley Searles. It is an ink wash drawing showing a man in a boat on a river being pursued by three men in another boat, one of them armed. Judging by their attire, this must represent an incident around the Revolutionary War time or thereabouts. This board was done for the publishers Allyn and Bacon, and has their name stamped in violet in the lower left of each page. It is on heavy poster cardboard and is in plastic. Has several of what appear to be tape smudges on face. Size is 18-3/8" by 5-3/4". A nice drawing.
