Seller Notes: A little bruised, but in tune.
After her amazing journey to the summit of Mt. Everest, Alice is being auctioned off to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (501(c) 3 – tax deductible). The purchase of Alice would be a tax deductible donation. Prior to her departure, Alice, a cheap Stratocaster, was signed by Alice Cooper thus giving her authenticity, credibility, and rockability. The journey was a difficult one but she endured with only a few minor scrapes, considering she has made the ultimate trek to the top of Mt. Everest. She began her travels poorly packaged with climbing gear in Phoenix, Arizona and boarded a Boeing going to Kathmandu, Nepal. She was then choppered up to the world’s most extreme airport in Lukla. Now in the foothills of the Himalayas she was loaded on the back o f a yack for two weeks. She then traveled 35 miles up the Khumdu valley, through many villages, passing stones carved with mantras and prayer flags floating in the breeze-- for this is the land of Buddhism. All are seeking enlightenment and the ever quest for nirvana. She eventually landed at Everest Base camp, her home on the glacier for two months. She had traveled a long way but her journey had just begun. Thrown into a backpack traveling up the Khumdu icefall, over ladder crossings, up the Lhotse Face, traversing the Yellow Band and Geneva Spur to the South Col, she has now entered the “death zone”. Enduring minus 20 degree temperatures and 60 mph winds, she made it to the world’s highest shrine at the summit of Mt. Everest (29,035 ft). This is the first Stratocaster (unverified) to grace the top of Chomolungma (Goddess of the Earth). With her photo on top, her celebrity has gone viral. When she returned to base camp she was adorned with Buddhist symbols: Oh-Mane-Padme-Hum by a Buddhist climbing monk and signed by the entire climbing team of Sherpas and climbers. Upon return from her auspicious journey, Alice completed her circle back to the master himself, Alice Cooper. I know carrying a guitar up to Everest sounds like a ridiculous story, but it was all done to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. At the time, I had dreamed of carrying a guitar to the top of Everest, thinking it would be easy – it was not! I was totally regretting my decision about halfway up. But I had made the commitment to get it to the top. We were able to endure a storm at 28,000 ft, in which I incurred frostbite, but we have made it to the world’s highest shrine, a chorten covered in prayer flags, at the summit of Everest. I was barely able to raise Alice in the exhausted state I was in. I think the summit picture captures the suffering that occurred to get there, so I think the guitar is priceless! I hope she goes to a place she can be shared by all. Somebody had to carry a Stratocaster to the top of Everest for charity! -Todd
