75-Ohm Bidirectional Attenuator
Improves poor reception caused by an overly strong signal from cable TV, UHF/VHF, and cable modems.
Adjustable attenuation from 0 to 20dB
RF Signal Attenuator
The RadioShack Bidirectional Attenuator reduces excessively strong signals from UHF/VHF antennas or cable TV. Overamplification from these sources might appear as a washed-out or unusually dark picture. The attenuator reduces or eliminates interference from reflections of strong signals that cause ghosting or double exposures. It also helps correct interference caused by differences between the impedance of your TV's antenna terminal and the signal source. The bidirectional attenuator can fine-tune each station for the best incoming signal strength and allows outgoing signals, such as pay-per-view requests and upstream data transfers from cable modems, to pass through.
Connecting and Operating the Attenuator
For the best connection, use RG-6QS (Quad Shield) 75-ohm coaxial cable, available at your local RadioShack store.
Use only the necessary cable length for the connections.
The attenuator is bidirectional to allow both incoming and outgoing signals.
It works with digital cable or internet.
1. Use a screwdriver and screws (not included) to mount the attenuator on a wall, baseboard or your entertainment center.
2. Connect the attenuator's OUTPUT terminal to the 75-ohm antenna terminal on your TV.
Note: If your TV or antenna uses 300-Ohm screw terminals, you need a 75-to-300-ohm transformer, available at your local RadioShack store.
3. Connect the output terminal of the cable box or UHF/VHF antenna to the attenuator's INPUT terminal.
4. Rotate the MIN/MAX knob toward MIN for a weak signal. Rotate MIN/MAX toward MAX for a strong signal.
