What a great and whimsical little piece of folk art! Black and white striped chalkware cat has bright yellow eyes, a bright red bow (as if a cat would sit still for that!), black eyelashes and whiskers, black spots here and there, and a black striped tail. The cat's nose and ears are pink, and its mouth is the same red as the bow. It has a startled look, which makes me grin when I look at it. Just a charming old piece!
Unsure of maker. I think this is from the turn of the 20th century, but was likely painted later, probably in the 1930s.
Has damage to its back, the underside, a spot on the back of its neck, and a couple of minor places. See photos. In great shape, considering.
