ANTIQUE GERMAN LENZKIRCH 1 MILLION WALL REGULATOR TIME & STRIKE CLOCK WITH CARVED OAK CASE!
Beautiful antique early Victorian German wall clock circa 1890's. Nicely carved oak wood carved with applied decoration case shows some very minor age wear and nicks to the veneer. Additionally, we note some minor splitting of the wood around the front door top rim edge as it surrounds the glass...case integrity is still excellent. All finials are original and in place. Original finish...general age and storage dust and dander which should clean away nicely. Door opens and closes on good hinges...working closing clasps at the side...all in fine condition. Inside, we have a porcelain dial with clear numbers and Gothic original hands. Dial is in fine condition with no hairlines noted. Original Lenzkirch pendulum is in place and in beautiful condition. The brass time and strike 1 Million marked movement appears complete and carries a serial number of 142520 which dates to shortly after the 1 Million designation was added in 1894. Additionally the name Lenzkirch and the signature logo with the A.U.G. designation. This trademark was registered in 1875 for Lenzkirch Aktiengesellschaft with the A. U. G. representing A- Aktien (Stockholder), U- Uhrenfabrikation (Clock Factory), G- Gesellschaft (Corporation) as their Factory Trademark. The serial number designation to date differs between lists and there probably will always be some discussion regarding actual dates. After many years in storage with the estate holders collection, when wound the clock did start up and continu to run for a few minutes prior to stopping...level front to back seems to be a matter of great importance on it's continued running which would allow the pendulum to avoid brushing against the back of the case and thus stopping continual running. We never found that "special level spot", and did not investigate further for issues. As with all of our estate timepieces and clocks, we highly recommend a professional cleaning with final adjustments after shipment to you, for proper working accuracy. Measures in at about 37" tall overall. Truly a beautiful German timepiece example and a marvelous example to add to your collection.
