This listing is for the REBUILDING of Bosch 5.3 ABS modules for the 1998-2001 Cadillac Catera. These modules commonly fail due to a factory defect. As a professional electrical engineer, I have identified the point of failure in these modules and developed a repair to both fix the problem and eliminate the failure mechanism. My rebuild process is unique and includes a fail-safe repair for extra reliability. The primary failure is repaired, and an additional backup connection is installed to ensure operation should the original repair fail again. No other rebuilder does this. I stand behind my work 100% and take pride in delivering professional quality and service.

The symptoms of a failed module on a Catera may include some or all of the following:
- ABS warning light lit
- Traction control light lit
- Inability to communicate with the ABS module with GM or Tec-II scan tools
- Speedometer inoperative

- Error codes P0500, U2108, P0705
- Check Engine Light (CEL) lit

What's happening is that the ABS electronic control module is losing power due to a broken electrical connection(s). If the module is broken, these symptoms will usually occur intermittently and progressively: they will start out happening every once in a while and progress to the point where they are always happening. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE YOUR ENTIRE PUMP TO FIX THIS (The dealer will charge around $2000)! All you have to do is remove the ABS electronic control module (EBTCM) and send it to me for repair. The EBTCM is not connected to the hydraulic lines of the brake system, so you can still drive your car while it is out for repair; you just won't have ABS functionality (which you don't anyway if your module is broken).

Why should you choose me to rebuild your module?
You should make an informed decision before you choose to have this important safety component repaired. I am an electrical engineer who specializes in the repair of Bosch ABS control modules. I can offer you a great price, the fastest service, the highest quality work, and individual attention. I have been offering this service for a long time, and value my reputation and established track record of serving my customers.
  • I am not a large commercial outfit. Most other repairers are large, generalized auto electronics rebuilders. They handle all sorts of work and have a lot of it. There is a reason I only list a small number of module rebuilds on eBay at a time -- I would rather devote extra time to each module than process as many as I possibly can. There is one company out there that is notorious for poor customer service. If you are thinking about buying from a rebuilding company, search their record with the BBB first!   I am a Bosch specialist, and these Bosch modules are all I do. I have developed a highly specialized repair process and know exactly what to do to repair and upgrade your module - there is no guesswork involved. I fix it, test it, and send it back out to you the next day or sooner. Customer service is my #1 priority.
  • My repair process is unique in that it includes a backup repair layer of redundancy. For every failed connection inside the module that I repair, I typically install a secondary backup connection to increase reliability. No other rebuilder installs these fail-safe repairs. I take pride in the quality of my work and back it up with a lifetime warranty.
  • Because I only work on this specific module, I have the fastest turn-a-round time in the business. Often I ship modules back out the same day I receive them. I only repair 4 or 5 modules a week, so when I receive yours, it is always going to be top priority. I will NEVER send you a module different from your own without informing you. Others keep core modules on hand and ship them out when yours comes in. It is extremely important that the original module be put back in the car for proper operation without software recoding. Feel free to mark your module before you send it to me.
  • Because I'm an individual and not a large company, you get to work and talk directly with me (the person rebuilding your module), and not a customer service representative or 1-800 number. I strive for the best possible customer service.
  • Quality of repair: I'm a degreed and practicing electrical engineer and have been repairing ABS modules and other electronics for years. Customers have sent me modules repaired by other firms, and I have been shocked at their quality of work including cold solder joints, damaged internals, and glued together components. These are highly delicate electronic devices and I treat them as such. I use specialized equipment and chemicals in my lab that I have selected and designed uniquely for this repair. There is a common method of fixing this problem (making the lights go away) used by rebuilders where they remove the bottom cover and short two pins together. This is absolutely the incorrect way to fix the problem and will eventually ruin the module. I have seen another rebuilder whose repair technique involves drilling large holes inside the module. I do not drill holes or otherwise deform the module. Another rebuilder uses silver epoxy (glue) to restore connections, which works for a little while but then crumbles to dust. I do not use electrical epoxy.
  • The issue of warranty. If yours doesn't work for some reason, I'll give you your money back. You can send it back to me at any time, and I will examine and repair if necessary for no charge. You do not have to go through the trouble of filling out warranty return forms or paying restocking fees; just call me up and we will work something out. I will always help my customers to the best of my abilities. The problem with the 'warranties' issued by the commercial outfits is that it is so easy for them to get out of the warranty obligations. They are not installing the module in your car. They are just fixing it and sending it back to you. It is so easy for them to say that it was damaged in shipping or that you installed it incorrectly. Don't get fooled into paying more for a 'warranty.'
  • The issue of price. I spend about 2-3 hours of my time processing, fixing, testing, and shipping each module. Because I'm not a big shop, I don't have nearly as much overhead and can offer lower prices and can spend more time with each module. Some shops charge you $50 or more just to examine your module even if they determine that it's not repairable. I will NEVER charge you anything for an examination fee.
I can repair all of the units used on the Cateras. The part numbers used are: 0273004206 (0 273 004 206) and 0273004208 (0 273 004 208).

Once you pay for the auction, you will need to send me your module for repair (I will send you detailed instructions after you purchase the service).
Make sure you package the module well (press duct tape against the bottom and wrap in bubble wrap).
I can send you detailed removal instructions if you need them, just let me know.
I will repair it within 24 hours and send it back to you. Upon receiving it, you will re-install it and the ABS lights should go away. You may need to clear out all the old codes.

Full Service Option: If you live in central Virginia, I will be glad to remove, repair, and re-install the module in your car. The charge is $250 for all of the labor including the rebuild. All you have to do is bring me your car. Please send me a message if you are interested in the full service.

Please email me for more information before buying! If your module has been previously repaired or you have attempted repair yourself, please email me BEFORE buying. I repair failed DIY attempts all the time!

Warranty: I warranty my work for as long as you own the car. Any problems, just send it back!

Disclaimer: The buyer assumes all risks associated with removing, installing, and usage of a re-manufactured ABS module.

If your module looks like this, I can repair it!
