A rare and unusually shaped headrest from the Samburu Tribe of Kenya. This headrest is used to keep the user’s head from the ground while sleeping and thus prevent the incursion of insects into the ear canal, the nose or the eyes. Made from a light wood, the handle has been fashioned from traditional plant fiber rope. Aged and very well-used patina. Some small circle decorations dotted around front and back.
A genuine tribal object in good collectable condition.
Materials: wood, fiber
Height 6 inches, width 7 inches, depth 3 inches.
Note that all genuine tribal art objects have a utilitarian or spiritual function, unless otherwise stated. As such, they are collectable with an investment value.
