Dean Koontz's 2011 horror/thriller/sci-fi novel "77 Shadow Street" keeps you on the edge of your seat-whenever you're not thinking through the different aspects of the story... This Stephen King-ish tale involves a 3-story luxury apartment building called the Pendleton, which was formerly a billionaire's mansion, and the people who live there. Every 38 years, strange things happen in the building, including murders, ghostly forms moving through walls, strange disappearances, and other paranormal events. In 1897, 1935, 1973 (when the Pendleton was remodeled into an apartment complex), and finally in 2011, these terrifying events occurred... "77 Shadow Street" is a VERY strange tale. Without revealing too much of the plot, I can say this story will keep you thinking and guessing what will happen next to the unfortunate residents of the Pendleton-and wondering who, if any, will survive. Though not one of my favorite Koontz yarns, this is still a great read that keeps you on your toes-and your nerves on edge. 4****Read full review
I found it a bit hard to finish (which I did). I've enjoyed numerous Koontz books, this was not one of his better ones. I felt myself speed reading, then eventually skipping the chapters with certain characters that I just couldn't get into. Definitely a twist as you near completion, however another I couldn't get into, cannot say more without spoiling it. Take the chance, you may like it.
