THIS IS A LINEAR BEAM FRESNEL LENS.
This type of lens is desirable for heating liquid as it produces a flat beam
that is 5 inches long vs. a small 1/4 inch spot.
This lens will melt zinc (692 degrees Farenheit) anywhere along the 5 inch beam but will not melt glass.

This is perfect for water boiling applications and it is less likely to destroy your equipment.
