Up for sale is one used New-MAD Carbon Fiber/Kevlar F-5 mandolin in excellent condition.  The New-Mad mandolins are made and designed

by Peter Mix, who was one of the founders of Rigel Mandolins.  They are amazing and very rare. The sustain and sweet clear tones are,to

many people, unexpected from a non-wood instrument.  The manufacturer's suggested retail is $6340 plus an additional $300 for the factory-

installed Schertler pickup, which adds to its versatility.  It has a radiused fingerboard, nickel hardware - deluxe tuners, and James tailpiece. 

This incredible mandolin also comes with the a lightweight case and a braided leather strap (a $59.00 value).  These instruments are

manufactured in the same facility that makes the Luis & Clark Carbon Fiber Violins (though New Mad is a separate company).  Luis & Clark

violins have taken the classical violin world by storm with their amazing volume and resonance.  It’s condition is almost near-mint with only

one very slight ding on the back of the neck and a finish chip in the same vicinity.  These do not affect playability

The sound of this mandolin is on par with the Gibson Sam Bush model that we also have in stock.  It has a great bluegrass chop, outstanding volume, and great warmth (If you thought carbon fiber instruments sounded harsh, leave that old notion behind.  This is warm and wood sounding like a fine bluegrass mandolin should be.  And in addition to the carbon fiber, this one has a layer of Kevlar which also adds richness to the tone.  That is a custom option, but well worth it.)  Think of it...you can take this fine mandolin to a bluegrass festival in Texas in the middle of summer and leave it in your trunk all day long, and when you take it out to play it, it will be unharmed and perfectly in tune.  Plus, we expect it's nearly bullet proof (don't try this at home).
