Beautiful Andrew Wyeth print, matted and framed under glass in 1961. This one is called “Early October” and may also be known as "Empty Chair" or "Writing Chair." It features an empty chair, sitting in the middle of a room. The depth Wyeth was able to create in the window makes the piece almost seem three dimensional. The fact that this appears to be an out-of-print Andrew Wyeth makes this an exceptional art piece for anyone!
The information on the back of the print states that this piece was framed by the Franklin Picture Frame Co. of Chicago~Dallas~New York. The information attached to the base of the back reads: "Early October" Dry Brush, 13½ x 21½”, 1961. Collection of Mrs. Andrew Wyeth. There is no visible signature; however, I believe it probably is a signed piece, since the companion piece I purchased with it is signed.
Finished framed size of this print is 21 ½” x 17 ½”. The piece is double matted and framed under plain glass in a burnished gold frame. There is some aging of the mat around the edges, consistent with a framed print of this era. This is a truly beautiful piece of art. I also have a companion picture… matted and framed exactly the same. See my listing for the Andrew Wyeth “Burning Off," at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370541547781
