We have for your consideration today this vintage collectible magazine color art print that was carefully removed from a 1946 national periodical.
The featured item is Michelangelo's DELPHICA. The caption below the color print reads:
THE DELPHIC SYBIL was one of the most famous of Greek oracles. Her shrine in the ancient Greek city of Delphi was visited by the statesmen and citizens of Greece who sought her advice. Michelangelo painted five of these pagan sibyls and seven Old Testament prophets as part of his decoration of the Sistine Chapel ceiling.
The print measures approximately 14" X 10-1/4".
Given its age of over 66 years, the print is in VERY GOOD condition. Understandably, there is some oxidation, a natural consequence of aging paper. This, however, does not at all detract from the core integrity of the print.
The print will be carefully placed, along with an acid-free backing board, in a protective poly sleeve. On both sides of the mailer will be printed the request, "PLEASE DO NOT BEND!"
Matted and framed, this lovely print will surely be a point of delight and conversation at the office or a lively complement to your living room decor. The vintage print enthusiast, ephemera specialist, keeper of scrapbooks, and/or nostalgia buff will find it to be a most welcome addition to his or her collection.
