It Works As It Should!
This item turned out to work the best out of the others that have tried. Works great with an Intel BX440 Motherboard from 1999. Interfaces SATA Hard Drives and SSD Drives seamlessly. Also has jumper for added support for optical drives. Highly recommend.

not fully compatable
like most items that claim to perform this function, it is not fully PATA compatible, the failures can be sporadic making the problem hard to diagnose, and with some drives it simply refuses to initialize. i have tried many of these converters over the years and they never fail to disappoint. even when a fully functional product is found, the same model, often from the same batch, doesn't operate properly. this specific model seems to be consistent in it's failures, so that was a plus, however it falls short even compared to models that are 1/4 of the price. i tested 3 of these boards on a wide range of motherboards, including 2 original xboxes, and the results were fairly typical of this type of product. failure mixed with success across the board with few common circumstances, and with no discernible pattern. for instance, the xboxes didn't work until i switched the phillips dvd drives with different phillips dvd drives. these products are infuriating to work with, and this item is no exception. if you decide to spend 20$ on this instead of 4$ on a comparable product, you get warranty and support service (ha ha), a small piece of rubber glued to the back of it to "prevent" short circuiting between the board and drive, and jumper posts that aren't missing like on most other models. for some reason they decided not to mount the status LED's on the items i received, but if you have a collection of surface mount components and a SM soldering kit, you can add them yourself...don't forget the resistors.

Bring old systems new life.
I had an old IDE based desktop PC that was in need of a upgrade to SSD for its boot drive. I got this adapter to do the job. This device was exceptional. I was of good quality and fit the job very well. You cannot go wrong with this adapter. I recommend it highly.
