Vintage 1929-30 Dobro Resonator Mandolin.
I have concluded through other pictures of very similar if not identical Dobro Mandolins, that it is either a 1929 or 1930 Dobro.
This is a resonator type with the bridge spider cone.
Hard shell case is in good condition. Not sure if case is original but a great fit.
The case has a faded logo that says Mountaineers across the front.
Mandolin does not have a serial number.
The tail piece has been replaced. Mandolin will come with the original tail piece, but it is broken in two pieces (pictured).
Light scratches from use, but in overall good to great condition for the age.
The finish is slightly crazed as you can see in the pictures with a flash.
The frets have some wear. Pictures show this.
I have owned this instrument for several years and it has been in the family for many years.
It was originally owned by my grandfather.
It has trouble staying in tune and that will need addressed.
It appears to be just a simple maintanence or adjustment with the tuners or the friction point of the strings.
Could be that I just put new strings on also. Has a great sound!
The top right tuner is slightly bent.
This will make a great instrument for a collector or player.
