TCAT Art - fundraiser for "HALF" a film project by Matt Angel

This auction is for an original painting by award winning artist Travis Catlett aka TCAT. This is one of two special auctions to raise money for a film project called HALF. This project was created by the talented Matt Angel and I would love to see his idea come to fruition. The following details about HALF have been provided by Matt.

The [TRUE] Story

Riley is your typical 12 year old girl with loving parents, a doting grandfather, and coming into herself as a budding teenager. Typical, that is, if your parents are divorcing lesbians, your grandfather is a gambling widower, and you find out you were turkey basted into your mother's womb with the potential of having tons of half siblings floating about.

Life in Riley's household was unconventional. She grew up with gay parents whose marriage slowly broke apart, making way for her grandfather to step in and play a large part in raising her. She never lacked adult love or attention and never missed having a father figure around. What she desperately craved more than anything else was siblings, so when she found out she was conceived by an anonymous donor she saw the endless possibilities; not only might she have brothers and sisters, she might have oodles of them! Riley resolves to find them all, and with the help of her family, sets out for the adventure of a lifetime.

HALF is a relevant, single-camera dramedy that shows how one family can put the fun in dysfunctional!

The Mission

Our goal is to raise $25,000.00 on Kickstarter over the next 40 days and bring HALF to life. Our dream budget is $50,000.00, so we figure if we get at least half (no pun intended) of it here, we will find someone to supply the deficit! Once the money is raised, we will launch into what the industry calls "Prep," which will give us five days to get everything in order before we roll the cameras. The real fun starts with production, which will be a total of three days between the dates of January 15th and 31st. But not to worry, we will be keeping you updated all along the way. THIS IS VERY POSSIBLE, AND WE HAVE AN AMAZING TEAM TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! :-)

Now, once the money is in, we will be using YOUR funds to create HALF. Cast, crew, pre-production, production, post production, and publicity costs are all a part of that. That means that without the money, none of it is possible.

At this point in time, November 9th, 2011, about half the crew has been hired, Vancouver location scouts are in progress, offers have been made to grade-A talent to play our leads, and meetings are being held with phenomenal directors. It really is amazing what can happen when you put your mind to it.
