MEN VTG RESISTOL 3X Beaver OPEN ROAD Style FUR FELT FEDORA HAT 7 1/4 Western style

This is a classic 1950’s fur felt fedora dress fedora hat in gently used vintage condition. This is an awesome hat for any type of outdoor activity. This hat will ship in a Resistol grey oval shaped hat box, packaged into another box it will help protect this hat during shipment and storage. The shipping cost may be a bit higher than my other hats due to the size and weight of the box.

Resistol had its genesis with Harry Rolnick, who moved with his family to Dallas in the early 1900s after growing up in a Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn. By 1917, the Rolnicks were operating a hat renovation shop in downtown Dallas. In 1926, with a $60,000 stake from a Dallas family, Rolnick founded a company to make hats he designed. A year later, Rolnick and Ed Byer, a retired machine parts millionaire, took over the firm, renamed it the Byer-Rolnick Co. and went into business with $100,000 in capital. Rolnick began marketing the guaranteed Resistol brand in the 1930s. His patented interior leather band allowed for expansion to resist confining contact with the head and the sweaty brows it created. The 1936 Texas Centennial inspired Rolnick to begin producing Western hats. Although they made up only 10 percent to 15 percent of the line in the early years, Rolnick was going head-to-head with legendary Stetson.

GREAT CLASSIC STYLED FEDORA

Brim – 2 3/4 inch wide snap

Crown - 5 1/4 inches un-bashed, approx 4 1/2 with the diamond crown bash and pinch front.

Ribbon – 3/8 inch wide

Size – Tagged size 7 1/4, opening measures 7 7/8 x 6 3/8, measures approximately 22 1/2 inches around the inside of the sweatband

Up for auction is a vintage 1950’s men’s fur felt Fedora by “Resistol Self-Conforming” “XXX Beaver, San Antonio, this hat is reminiscent of the always popular Stetson Open Road in a tagged size 7 1/4, it is in great, slightly used vintage condition. The hat shows almost no signs of wear. The color is tan or silverbelly and fitted with a 3/8 inch wide tan grosgrain ribbon, along with a wind trolley button & string, the button has a small rust stain on it. The sweatband is still soft and pliable, free of any crack or tears, and showing no signs of wear. The sweatband stitching is still nice and tight free of any breaks. Printed on one side of the sweatband is “Resistol, Self-Conforming” at the front of the hat is “XXX Beaver”. The satin liner is in excellent condition showing no signs of wear. It is a creamy white color, free of tears, stains and holes. The crown is about 5 1/4 inches open and with a pinch front diamond bash the crown is about 4 1/2 inches tall. The hat cam to me with a ranchers crease that could be put back, just a bit of steam is all it takes to re-shape this beauty. The snap brim is 2 3/4 inches wide with light tan grosgrain binder. As with most vintage hats this one could probably use a professional cleaning and blocking.

The felt is soft, smooth, and very pliable. The hat is FREE of moth damage. There are NO tears or stains; the hat is really clean for the age. There is one noticeable spot under the brim as seen in picture #8, it is a small nick.

To replace sweatbands and ribbons or to get your hat cleaned, re-blocked, or resized, check out www.cleanahat.com, I am not affiliated in any way, I just happened across the website.

BIDDERS BEWARE OF Bid Snipers:

"Bid Snipers" use software to bid in the final few seconds of the auction to take over the auction and win the item at the lowest possible price. You will not be able to beat a bid sniper program at the last minute.

The best way to improve your chances on something you really want is to determine the maximum amount you are willing to pay and enter that amount. That method also helps avoid missing a bid or forgetting to bid on the item.  eBay will enter your bid automatically at the LOWEST possible price for you.  That means if your max bid is $50, but your current bid is only at $20 and nobody else bids then you still get it for $20 even though you entered $50.  If you end up losing the auction it will NOT be because you have been had by a Bid Sniper - it will be because it went beyond what you were willing to pay
