This is an incredibly rare pewter sculpture distributed to TV stations who carried new episodes Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in first-run syndication.  I worked at one of those stations (WACY in Green Bay) and got to bring this one home with me, since the show had been off the air for some time when I left.

Two pieces of glass hold a color print of the wormhole in place behind a three-dimensional sculpture of the DS9 station; the glass and the photo can be removed via the top of the piece, but nothing else detaches.

The base of the sculpture has a "starry" texture and "Stardate 52947.9" in raised relief letters.  The back of the wormhole print displays a quote from Andre Malraux: "And when man faces destiny, destiny ends and man comes into his own."  I don't recall this quote ever being mentioned in the show itself; it was strictly part of the promotional campaign for the series finale.

Two things I can't stress enough:

This is heavy.  This is a solid pewter piece.  What with that and the glass, I'm going to put enough packing material around this thing to get it through the wormhole on a bad day.  Shipping within the US is going to be pretty expensive.  Shipping outside the US... you might have to get a loan from the Ferengi Commerce Authority.  I have no idea how much it'd cost to ship overseas.  If you're outside the US, we'll have to figure something out there.  Also, I'm not going to ship it cheap and cheesy; this think has breakable parts and I'm sure neither of us wants them to break.  I'm not going to skimp on packing material or packaging.  These are just too hard to come by.

This is rare.  This was distributed only to television stations that carried DS9 when it was showing new episodes every week, so there are, at most, a couple hundred of them floating around between various TV stations and probably a few in the hands of folks who were involved with the making of the show.  It's probably safe to say that there are fewer than 300 of these in existence, and I'll bet good money this is the only one up for grabs on eBay.  Due to the rarity, it is priced accordingly; my apologies if the opening bid is a dream-crusher for anyone, but this wasn't something you could walk into a store or hit the 'net to pick up.

This is one of the jewels of my collection of promotional stuff that I accumulated from years of working in TV promo departments, promoting stuff like DS9, Voyager and Babylon 5.  I hate to part with it, but at the same time... I have a small child in the house, and you can tell from the photos that it's been sitting on a very high shelf, all but invisible and gathering dust.  It's time for it to warp on to its next destination.

Feel free to hit me up with any questions you might have.
