Check this beauty out!
This is a Māori inspired pendant which I cut & shaped out of Buffalo bone. It's been finely sanded & polished to give it an ivory looking finish. Only a well trained eye could tell the difference.
The pendant measures 1 1/2"(38mm)L x 1 3/16"(30mm)W x 1/2"(13mm)thick.
This pendant is called a Hei Toki. The Hei Toki or Adze(axe) piece was mainly worn by Maori elders and men but has evolved to a piece that can be worn by both men and women, The hei toki represents strength, authority and leadership.
Just the perfect gift for that special person in your life.
For the Māori, the hei toki
is Taonga(a cultural treasure). When it is worn on the skin, it changes color as oil is absorbed. The Māori took this to symbolize that the spirit of the person was inhabiting the pendant. When someone gives a pendant to someone else, it is the custom that they wear it for a time so that part of their spirit is given as well.
The pendant is lashed onto a durable, yet stunningly beautiful 17.5"(45.5cm)L x 4/16"(5mm)D 4 plait round braided, cream colored nylon cord. Each plait has a test breaking strength of 100lbs(45.36kg) which means this necklace can handle about 400lbs(181kg) of force. The necklace cord has a toggle & loop, where the toggle is carved of the same material as the pendant.(email me for pics including necklace cord)
GuaranteeThis pendant is an original piece of art which has been hand carved, rubbed & polished by myself from real 100% beef bone. I take extra care & pride in the work that I do to ensure great quality.
However, if you are unhappy with the quality I will refund "purchase" price minus $5 for processing & re-listing fee after returned item has been received by me.
If you do not like what you see in my other items then send me a question & I'll see if I can fulfill your custom request. I work with cow bones & fossil ivory & fossilized bones. I also work with exotic Hawaiian woods such as curly Koa(Acacia koa), Milo(Thespesia populnea) & Haole kou(Cordia sebestena).
