This is a circa 1924 Gibson A4 Snakehead mandolin .The serial number is 77212 . On the label it is marked Gibson Mandolin Style A4 Number 77212 . It is also marked up higher on another label "VIRZI" TONE  No. 10029 . I bought it from a man in that is 65 years old , this belonged to his father . His father played Portuguese folk music with it mostly just on Sundays .This mandolin appears to be all original . I'm no expert so take a good look . It has the original tailpiece , pickguard and pegs I believe . I don't see any cracks or other damage . There is wear , it looks like the previous owner may have touched-up some worn spots with something to blend them in to the finish but I'm not sure . Around the point where the neck joins the body there is looks to be some touch-up . Please take a good look at my last photo . I thought at first this may have been a neck repair but I honestly think he covered up worn spots with some kind of finish here . The mandolin comes with what I believe is an original hard case . It's in good condition but one of the hinges is broken .Overall a real nice old example . Not to worry , any problems with your satisfaction will be cordially dealt with right away .High bid pays postage .
