Robert Plant once declared with his arms stretched out, standing on the balcony of a LA hotel room “I’m a golden god!!” A phrase most all true Zep fans know well. One thing that added to Robert’s “god-like” status was his jewelry.  When I was 15 years old, I won $100 in a poker game at my grandmothers. Being a die hard Zeppelin fan since age 13, I had always wanted Led Zeppelin posters hanging on my bedroom wall. One poster that came in the mail order (thanks to my poker winnings), was an image of Robert (shown in the frame) taken by well known photographer Neil Preston in 1977.
Since the day I received that poster and hung it up, I could not get over his jewelry.
Fast forward a year to the Christmas of my 16th year. My grandmother asked me what I wanted for a gift, and I told her a turquoise ring. We drove all around Atlanta searching and finally found a flea market where two retired war veterans sold army navy surplus and Indian jewelry. The veteran who sold the jewelry was from Texas and had a vast knowledge of the various types of Indian jewelry from the American southwest.  Our meeting turned into a friendship and informal apprenticeship that lasted over two decades. R.K.Revis, known at the flea market as “Chief” taught me the various types of jewelry that were made by the tribes of the southwest. I took the poster of Robert into the flea market to find out from “Chief” who made his jewelry. He immediately recognized the necklace as a Hopi piece (a tribe who live on the mesas of northeast Arizona), and the bracelet with turquoise and red coral as Navajo, (the first Native Americans to do silversmithing in the United States).  He could not see Roberts other bracelet, but I knew it was another Hopi piece after I finally I found a good picture of it in a book.
Fast forward to the year 1996, when I was 25. For another ten years, I had an extreme passion to make jewelry but never had the opportunity. After completing 4 years of art college, I still had not delved into the metal arts. So upon entering graduate school at the University of Georgia, I discovered they had a jewelry and metals program. Therefore, I decided to pursue that as my degree concentration. I received my Master of Fine Arts degree in jewelry and metals in 2000. It really happened by accident. But if it had not have been for my “curiosity” in Robert’s jewelry, and meeting “Chief,” this may not have been the direction my life has taken.
Once again, fast forward another ten years. After months of gathering every picture I could of Robert’s jewelry, scanning the poster, measuring, overlaying photos to get the size and proportions correct, I finally created the three pieces that sparked my passion to become a jewelry maker. I firmly believe that these are as close to the original pieces as any jeweler can get without seeing the originals in person.
Here offered for the FIRST and LAST time on auction are my re-creations of Robert’s jewelry. I say “LAST” time only because I want it to be known that I am NOT interested in making multiples of his jewelry out of respect to the great. These were made by ME for ME. The ONLY reason I am auctioning these is for the December 10th benefit to help provide a seeing eye for a blind person in need (please see more info on this on www.memoriesinmusic.com)
Also, please read a portion of the charity details below:
All the money in this fund will go to Guide Dogs UK, and we will sponsor a puppy as a gift to Led Zeppelin. (Visit their website here: http://www.guidedogsgiving.org.uk/sponsorapuppy/home/

I will donate 10% of the proceeds from this auction to this charity event. Even if you can’t afford to buy these pieces, please consider sending in a donation.
Description of the jewelry:
There are 3 pieces being auctioned (frame and portrait of Robert NOT included). All pieces are made of .925 sterling silver, “sleeping beauty” turquoise, and natural Mediterranean red coral.  They are signed by me, the artist, Chad Buice along with my logo. Measurements of the pieces are shown in the photos.  There is room for modification.  In other words, the bracelets can be tightened or loosened a bit to fit your arm.  If this is needed, I will need measurements of your wrist. The necklace can be lengthened or shortened by adding or taking away links from the back. This can be arranged after the auction ends. Again, I made these for me and they fit me perfectly. Honestly, it was a difficult decision to let them go! But to honor a band that has brought me, as the description says “so much JOY!” and to help a blind person in need, I felt it was time to part with them.

SHIPPING IS FREE!! Insurance is included with the shipping. I WILL SHIP TO ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.
Payment is through Paypal only. It is due this Friday after the auction ends to ensure timely delivery to the charity.
A silver polishing cloth will also be included with these pieces. It is not wise to use creams or chemicals on these because those will take off the patina (darkened areas).
If you have any questions, please e-mail me. Thanks for taking the time to read my story!
