Antique Maltese Silk Lace Mantilla Beautiful large, antique silk maltese lace mantilla with some condition issues. Lovely work. Made from very pale, almost white, silk on the outer parts & the lappettes . Slightly more honey colour in the centre . I think this is deliberate on the part of the maker, the difference is subtle & can be seen in the folded -up, second photo. Condition Issues One larger hole approx 3cm x 1 cm where one wing of a maltese cross has unravelled. There are a number of single missing / broken tallies or bridges. I have carefully searched & found 10. Possibly there could be a couple more as they are hard to spot. There is an old linear repair in the central part, approx 4" long. Not very well done, could be re-done with skill Overall still a lovely piece of work & the mantilla would display very well on a mannequin. The silk is a lovely colour & I think it would be worthy of repair. Would not suit a buyer who is looking for perfection however. Measures : 64" ( 164 cm ) from end to end 21" ( 54 cm ) from front to back across centre NB : I am always happy to give a full refund for any item if the buyer would prefer The Small Print !
