Rare 'Coquillage' Venus Fly Trap PlantA Unique Venus Flytrap Clone
The 'Coquillage' Venus fly trap up for grabs in this auction is the FlytrapStore's second offering of this unique and remarkable Flytrap clone and, to our knowledge, the second offering of this clone within the United States. An officially registered cultivated variety with the International Carnivorous Plant Society, 'Coquillage' was discovered in the Netherlands during an open day of the carnivorous plant nursery Carniflora, and has short, widely-spaced teeth on thick traps that resemble a shell, hence the name (coquillage means shell in French). In addition to the defining short, widely-spaced teeth on thick traps, for which it was named, 'Coquillage' is a year-round low growing plant, is quite vigorous and is an excellent seed producer. We have only about a half dozen 'Coquillage' flytraps that will be ready for sale this year. The photos accompanying this auction are of the the exact 'Coquillage' Venus flytrap plant being auctioned. The plant is a young 'Coquillage' flytrap that was produced in our tissue culture laboratory and has been hardened off to greenhouse conditions over the last 6 or 7 months. This plant will be shipped bareroot (not potted) unless the auction winner requests otherwise at the close of the auction (additional charges will apply for shipping and handling).
We are very gratified and grateful to be a part of the worldwide community of carnivorous plant lovers, and like many people, we are both especially fond of Venus flytraps. Best wishes and Happy Growing! -Matt & Leah Miller, FlytrapStore |
