Here is a cool vintage Slingerland snare drum with a wood shell.  The head is 14 inches diameter and the height including the rims is 8 inches.  It has a 3 ply mahogany shell and it has maple tone rings.  The hoops don't attract a magnet so I'm guessing they're brass and they are nickel plated.  The badge reads:  Slingerland Quality Drums, Chicago, Ill. U.S.A.  There isn't a serial number or a stamped date.  The shell has plenty of nicks and scratches.  I'd say a lot of them are just scratches to the varnish, but many go deeper also.  Mark inked his name just above the badge.  There is some minor bubbling and scratches in the plating on the hardware but mostly the plating looks pretty good.  The heads are old and dented and there are marks on the batter head.  The throwoff works well.  There are 2 small holes to the right of the throwoff, maybe from a chuck key holder that's missing?  There's a chip on the inside of one of the holes.  There's a dent in the edge of the upper hoop, just above the badge.  It has the original tweed fiberboard case with a name spraypainted on the side.  A nice old vintage drum!
