Ship of Ghosts, The Story of the USS Houston and the Epic Saga of Her Survivors!  Signed by Author!

The USS Houston was a heavy cruiser stationed in the Far East at the beginning of World War 2.  After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Houston was on the front lines of a relentless Japanese offensive.  She fought a gallant fight and earned the nickname, “The Galloping Ghost of the Java Coast.”  In late February 1942 she faced an overwhelming Japanese force and was sunk.  Her survivors were taken prisoner and were not repatriated until 42 months later.  Of the crew of 1,168 men, only 291 returned home.  This is the story of a little known chapter of US Naval history.  The hardback 529 page book includes photographs and a detailed index.  It is signed by the author James Hornfishcher and is in mint condition.

Bid with confidence, I am a proud member of the Universal Autograph Collector’s Club or UACC (and published, see May-June 2004 of the Pen and Quill, UACC’s bi-monthly publication). I abide by their strict code of ethics. Check out my feedback, over 5700 satisfied buyers and counting! Your money, including return postage costs, is cheerfully refunded if you are not TOTALLY satisfied with the item.  Please take a look at my other auctions, I add to them every day! If you bid on multiple items I’ll consolidate your shipping costs and save you money.

Shipping Information:

I don’t like paying shipping any more than you do. In reality I only break even or oftentimes lose money with every item that I ship. But that is my commitment to my buyers for safe, secure and inexpensive shipping. I will happily combine shipping for multiple purchases. Books are individually wrapped in bubble wrap and tape. The book is then packed with peanuts inside a box to prevent any damage during shipping. Domestic priority S&H is $4.00 (USPS Flat Rate is $8.95), international 1st class shipping is $17, $14 for our friends in Canada. Thanks for visiting my auction and good luck with your bidding!
