Read quote; "Featuring next generation micro engraving with an advanced security feature etched into the front of the coin, the redesigned 2014 SML represents the cutting edge in bullion coin security. The Silver Maple Leaf is the official silver bullion coin of Canada and one of the purest coins ever to be minted in the entire world. A Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is 1 troy ounce of pure silver minted in .9999 fine silver. The coin has been minted by the Royal Canadian Mint since 1988. Its obverse side is the likeness of Elizabeth II and its reverse is the highly known maple leaf. The coin is very well made and intricately designed. Since 1988 there has been three different heads of Elizabeth II; a young head, an old head and an older head. One of the worlds most popular coins sought after, with annual proof releases and several special issues including the 10th anniversary single-issue 10 oz coin in 1998, and the 25th anniversary issue in 2013." The 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf is an excellent bullion coin to collect. Superior to ALL other mints(even my own country's US Mint), the Royal Canadian Mint hires assay technologists that certify all silver maples to 9999 purity at a minimum, which is guaranteed to be at least 10 times more pure than the international standard for purity. Originally produced for bullion investment primarily, now design changes have been brought to the 2014 version of the coin, with enhanced aesthetics like ridges emanating from the center and fraud protection features like a laser-engraved mint mark with a "14" for the year microengraved inside. This brings up the potential for numismatic value to be realized through today's sales of the 1986-2013 maples, which do not have these advanced features and are visibly vintage now. While a standard 2013 maple will obviously demand current and future value of silver based on its weight, in contrast, the lunar privy coins, reverse proof versions, and the "25" year commemoratives and others may all enjoy enhanced collectability and thus higher numismatic values may be realized when it comes time to sell to another collector.Read full review
My first Maple Leaf. I'm excited. Since Canadian silver is of a more pure mintage than US silver, decided this was my direction. And additionally, Canadian silver has been less price wise. No brainer. I have 2 now, and will purchase more. I also like the different privy marks.
Nice to look at!
