This is an amazing opportunity for someone into vintage audio. A little history: my grandfather was a radio engineer and audiophile in the 1940s and 1950s. He hand built a top-of-the line system for his own use, using radio station grade components. Here is what I'm offering:
The turntable: a 1948 Presto 64-A 16" transcription turntable, including the original hangtag! It has two motors, one for 33 1/3 rpm and one for 78 rpm. The 33 1/3 rpm motor is not functioning properly. It starts and spins, but runs very slowly and hums loudly. I suspect it needs a new capacitor and have even purchased one (which is included), but never got around to changing it. The 78 rpm motor works perfectly. The motor mounts have been replaced. The original hangtag reads as follows:
Also included are the following components. I do not know if they work.
All have been custom-installed in a 1950s record cabinet complete with power source, fuses, and light. The components are in a made-to-fit copper compartment for shielding. A portion of the copper shielding is screened for proper ventilation. I've even left the 1965 newspaper in the bottom of the cabinet. (There is also a cheap 1970s or 1980s speaker mounted in the door.) Due to its size and weight, there is no way I can ship this item (contact me for payment option upon pickup). Come to Orlando, Florida and bring home a souvenir that's really worth having!! You've never seen a system like this before, and you never will again. Don't miss this opportunity--bid now! All equipment is sold as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. No returns. |
