If you need a monitor and nothing fancy this is a great value. For some reason it requires a proprietary power adapter so make sure it comes with one or that you can get one. I found one on eBay for about 10 dollars

I bought this about a year after I bought the Dell Ultrasharp 2000FP b/c I was impressed with the 2000FP and man I was not disappointed with the 2nd one either. I have had this one for over 3 years and it is still working perfectly with no issues. Pros: LCD clarity, Colors, Price, Durability, Dell Support and Drivers, Lightweight (for an LCD) and NOT bulky (fits in small spaces for its size), nice speakers mounted on the monitor for those who don't need extravagant speakers, adjustable height, Can flip from horizontal view to vertical view (nice to have), 4 inputs (count em 4) Cons - none that I can think of. Dell had it pretty close with the 2000FP but the only downside to that one was its bulk and weight. Well- they fixed that in the very next version. I have had this for 3+ years and the 2000FP for 4+ years and I am sitting looking at them side by side and they are close in quality but the size difference is astounding. I give this monitor a good work out 8-10 hrs a day (never gets turned off) and it still chugs along. I actually use it on 2 machines (analog input and digital input) In my opinion - you probably can't find a better quality monitor for this price - its a deal and thats about how I would sum it up. I bought it for the price. Seems to operate about identically to the two Dell 2007FPs I have. Cannot tell any operational differences. The stands are a little different which does not matter to me. I do audio conversion work and no games. Gamer players might notice limitation because they need the fastest and greatest. My Feet Of Flames movie seems to play well. For my work the 2001FP is quite satisfactory. Used it right out of the box. Never did have to adjust anything. Did have to tell it to look for DVI (EGA) input instead of the digital input. I did buy the $6(?) hook on speakers for one of my 2001FPs but the volume turned out to be too low for my work so I went back to my bigger external speakers. Am well satisfied with Dell equipment. (3 monitors and 1 GX280 computer)
I have found that for an office situation, it is much more beneficial to use a full screen monitor than it is to use a widescreen monitor. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult to find full screen monitors. You can't find them at Best Buy, Office Depot, and even online stores like Tiger Direct and Newegg. My 2 year old 20" LCD died on me a few days before I bought this monitor, and I was very annoyed that I was going to be forced to use a widescreen to replace it. Fortunately, I stumbled across this monitor on ebay and never looked back. The picture is fantastic, color depth is excellent (which is good because I do a lot of flyers and graphics related things for my job). This monitor also has the ability to be rotated sideways, which for some of the work I do makes like so much easier. As far as positioning goes, this monitor has a wide range of adjustments. It has an easy to adjust height stand, a wide range of viewing angles, and very wide range of side to side rotation. It has more connections than any computer monitor I have ever owned. They include VGA, DVI, S-Video, and Composite video as well as a 4 port USB Hub built in. A button on the front makes switching between the connectors very simple, and it does offer Picture in Picture functionality. Overall, I rate this monitor a 5/5. I have yet to find a problem with it.Read full review
Dell 2001FP at 20" is maybe the best monitor I ever had. First and foremost, it is s-IPS panel, which is heaven compares to TN screens that we meet everyday. When put next to each other, TN screen has washed color, very limited angle, changing color when change viewing angle. S-IPS has none of such. Dell 2001FP has build in USB HUB that comes in handy. It also rotates, swirl and rise. Further, it can attach to AS500 sound bar for complete AV viewing. 2001FP is also 4:3 ratio that is best for professional use. 16:9 is useless for paper editing, CAD designing etc. Compares to later DELL monitors at 20" such as 2007FP, 2001FP's S-IPS is better. Because Dell secretly changed 2007FP's IPS screen to PVA! Another factor that makes 2001FP maybe the last of its kind, it has PIP, picture-in-picture, a feature that disappears in HDTV today. 2001FP has DVI, VGA, S-Video and composite video input. After 5 years, 2001FP still beat many new LCD panels on the market, both for color and function. At around $100, what do I wish for more?Read full review
