EPIPHYLLUM are very easy to grow.

They bloom once a year and the flowers last from 1-5 days.
More filtered sunshine light is better than less to grow flowers April through June.
Less water is better than more to avoid root rot.
Never let roots become bone dry. Less fertilizer is better than more.
Begin fertilizing the first of February using 0-10-10 or 2-10-10 every 2 to 4 weeks until the flowers are gone.
July and September feed with 10-10-10
Flowers emerge at the ends of the stems in spring, and can be 4-6 in (10-15 cm) wide.
Most epiphyllum grown today are hybrids and may be pink
Give your cactus plenty of light and you'll enjoy months of blooms orchid cactus
Pruning tip: Use sharp, clean pruning shears to prevent tearing the stems.
Cut a stem off between segments (the place where they're joined together by a midrib).
Temperature:     50-75°F, 10-24°C
Humidity: Medium humidity
Lighting Needs: Does best in bright indirect sunlight coming from the East/West
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist and if you use rainwater, be careful as it could be acidic.
 Use warm water.
Fertilizer: Feed every two weeks with a suitable cactus fertilizer, which is rich in potassium during spring and summer.
Propagation:Cuttings (let the cut end dry out first) in the spring through summer.
Saturate the soil and cover with a piece of cardboard, treat with a fungicide when leaves appear and move it to a sunny
location. Offsets and cuttings should be planted in barely moist soil or sand,
kept in the shade and misted lightly. Water very little until you're sure they've rooted.
Gardening Tips & Care:     Keep cool during the winter months. Requires reduced watering in the winter. Be careful not to over-water.
An ideal plant for a hanging basket.
Soil: What soil should we use?
The soil for Epis must contain some organic matter. It needs to have a slightly acidic reaction. Leafmold is the best organic matter to use and oak leafmold the very best of all. A little well aged manure is also helpful. If you don't have access to these types of organic matter, the addition of horticultural peat to a good, sterilized houseplant potting soil will fit the bill. Coarse sand or grit must be added to this for drainage.
If you plan to use compost in the soil mix - remember that a little goes a long way.
Never use ordinary outdoor garden soil. There is too big a risk of introducing bugs and other problems which can attack epi roots causing serious damage. In any case most outdoor garden soil is far too heavy for any houseplants even with the addition of products to lighten its weight.
Soil Type: Never use ordinary potting compost or garden soil, there are general purpose cactus mixes available.
If you want to mix your own take: 1 part garden soil, 1 part humus (leaf mold) and 1 part coarse sand or perlite.
Always use a pot with a hole.
A basic mix might be:
50% sterilized houseplant potting soil low in peat. If it is high in peat depending on how peaty the soil is you may not need to add more organic matter. By low in peat I mean not the bagged potting soil that is 90% peat with very little soil.
30% organic matter (leafmold, compost, peat)
20% Coarse sand or grit or horticultural perlite to encourage drainage. I personally won't use perlite because eventually it washes up to the top of the soil. I use No. 2 chicken grit.
