This '88 ES-335 Dot features: a maple top and back with stunning Tobacco Sunburst finish, maple sides, bound top and back, vintage style 1-piece mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, (1) Patent No. humbucking pickup and (1) HB-L humbucking pickup, Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece, Grover tuning machines, nickel hardware, and the original hard shell case.
This example is in excellent cosmetic shape, and perfect structural condition. A completely preserved no-issues example, there are no cracks, no breaks, no repairs, nor modifications. The finish is clean without evidence of pick or buckle wear, and there is only very minor neck wear, which is so small it is nearly impossible to photograph. The original nickel hardware has oxidized, the result being an attractive authentic-looking patina.
Weighing a moderate 8 lbs. 14 oz., the guitar is very enjoyable, and easy, to play. The neck profile is most reminiscent of a '60 slim taper shape, and the medium-sized vintage spec frets are in great condition. With factory installed 2 different models of pickups, HB-L and Pat. No., the guitar is quite versatile. The neck is perfectly straight, and was recently setup up with Pyramid .010-.046 gauge strings. The original case padlock has been compromised and the latch was removed at some point for easier access.
This is a great bargain buy, and an absolute timeless instrument. It looks, plays, and sounds great, and can be purchased for less than a new one made from lesser quality materials. Don't miss this chance to buy one before they go up in value.
