1984 Gold Krugerrand Proof set- 1/10 oz and 1/4 oz in S.A.M. Box Coins are pictured with original South African Mint Box. (this is for one set, second set pictured in photo 1 is not part of this auction) Coins and Case are in superb condition. The eye appeal with both coins is excellent. It is a great looking set that has been properly stored and handled. The set is a very nice asset to own. It is very unique and hard to find. I could not find one anywhere, I checked all over the web. The mintage for each proof coin is the same - 13,020. This is a collectible rare set and provides great exposure to Gold. The case looks to be made of leather and has a soft velvet interior, with a brass closure. It is an exquisite and very rare collectible set. The Krugerrand Proofs were released as individual 1 ounce Proof Krugerrand s, 1/2 ounce Proof Krugerrands in SAM Cases and the 1/4 ounce Proof Krugerrands and 1/10 ounce Proof Krugerrands were issued together in what was known as a pair SAM case. It was not until 1995 that a COA was issued with these proof coins this also applies to the mint coin holders. How do you tell a Krugerrand proof from a Krug bullion coin? The proof has a mirror-like finish as shown in photo 3 with the 1/4 oz bullion coin and proof coin. Another way is the reeded edge as shown in photo 4 (bullion coin is on top). A Krugerrand bullion coin has fewer and courser ridges than the proof.
