I have prepared this listing on behalf of a good personal friend of mine, who in 1968, having already distinquished himself as a serious jazz drum student and player, as a 16 year old, purchased, brand new, the entirety of what is included in this listing- most notably a top of the line Rogers Holiday script badge, Swivomatic hardware drum kit, (22" bass drum, 13" rack tom, 16" floor tom), matched set, manufactured at the Fullerton, USA plant, of three ply maple, with reinforcement rings, top and bottom, with the interior of the shell treated with Rogers' properiety grey and white speckled material, and the exterior wrap in classic White Mother of Pearl. Along with that he purchased a brand new, 1968 Chrome plated Brass Dynasonic snare drum, super tough cases for each drum, a Rogers L-shaped bass drum mounted cymbal stand, on which to place his brand new A. Zildjian hand picked 20" ride, and two A. Zildjian crash cymbals, an 18" medium, and a 16" thin crash-both brand new, with free standing cymbals stands; a Rogers Hi-Hat stand, two 14" A. Zildjian hat cymbals, a snare drum stand, a Rogers Bass drum pedal, and throne, all brand new!!! Picture, if you will for a moment, what that kit must have looked like all shiney new, and then compare that mental image to the photos in the array above- not much difference at all. While you're at it, imagine what that set must sound like, being considered by many to be the finest of their type every constructed. Truthfully, if I didn't see it with my own eyes, and hear it, I would be hard pressed to believe it- but it is a FACT, that he has taken such meticulous care of this set over the 44 years he has owned it, and used it so gingerly, that it really is as if time has stood still, and the normal wear and tear you'd expect to see evidenced on a set, on hardware, on some aspect of the multiple facets of this kit, over a half century, just never took place. And the sound- pure magic, throughout. Though you can't see it, the maple has aged, and taken on that vintage warmth while retaining its punch. Not only won't you be dissapointed, but you will MARVEL at what you see and hear, should you stake your claim by purchasing this all-inclusive set. Take a look at the photos that show the condition of the wrap. As mentioned every aspect of every part of this set is 100% original. These drums have not been re-wrapped, and yet the white mother of pearl is still WHITE!!!There is NO Rust, NO pitting on any surface present anywhere! The cymbals have no keyholing, no cracks, no discoloration. Most of the heads are the original heads, and show very little wear! The Dynasonic snare drum is as pristine- simply glowing, as any "used" snare drum, of any vintage, made by any manufacturer I have ever seen. There is NO lifting of the wrap on any drum. ALL hardware parts, including spurs, floor tom legs, stands, pedal, etc. are present/ are complete (no missing rubber), appear virgin, and are fully and nimbly functional!!!! The photos were taken with a point and shoot $135.00 Fufi 10.0 megapixed camera, with no special effects, and no altering. What you see if what you get. For reasons that are personal to him, my friends drumming days are long behind him. Obviously when he wasn't playing /practicing on his drumset, the drums were immediately placed in their shells/ cases, and all stands, cymbals, etc. placed in his fiber constructed percussion box on wheels. (also included in purchase). When he asked me what I thought the whole set, including everything photographed and here described (drums, cymbals, stands, cases, etc. etc.) were worth, in the incredible condition they are in, and given their pedigree, I told him "priceless". I said that because I seriously believe that there is not another set, this complete, consisting of this quality instruments, of this vintage, in THIS "time capsule" type condition, not already housed in a museum, or under glass on display as some investor/collector's prize possession. It took some time, but we were able to come down from the lofty abstract, to real numbers. After all, he is selling the set, because, again for personal reasons, he needs the money, more than he needs a room full of veritably priceless percussion equipment. The entirety of that pictured and detailed hereat, can be purchased for a Buy It Now figure of $4,000.00. Broken down over the full gamut of instruments, hardware and peripherals included- the set, the snare drum, the cymbals, the cases, the stands, etc. and that price is not only fair, it's downright irresistable. Best offers will be considered, but are discouraged. If no one buys according to these terms, we will relist auction style, with a start bid price in that amount, and it's anyone's guess what it will take to prevail if things become competitve, as by all indications, they should and will. Due to the large mass of items being sold in this listing we apologetically are limiting this offer to U.S. destinations, in the lower 48 contiguous states, at a flat fee for shipping Fed Ex, including insurance against damage or loss in transit to $200.00. Done correctly, it will likely cost more than that sum to ship, depending on the proximity of the destination from Northeast Pensylvania, the geographic, ship from location. Buyer will not be asked for additional money if it costs more than that to ship. If it costs less, we will refund to Buyer the difference between the $200.00 up front shipping escrow payment and actual costs. Buyers are welcome (even encouraged) to pick their purchase up, at no cost, such that upon pick up their entire $200.00 shipping escrow funds will be returned to them!! |
