You are looking at a 1967 Seeburg HSC-2 33 1/3 Home Album Jukebox. This
is an original survivor that was from a local family who had it stored in a heated warehouse for 40+ years. It will be a fairly easy restoration project.
The HSC-2 was in the late 60’s when Seeburg was looking to expand their market and offer a luxury turntable for home use. They introduced a series of what they called “Home Stereo Consoles”, which were available in a variety of cabinet styles. Essentially, this was a Selectomatic 100 mechanism, modified to play albums at 33 1/3 rpm, together with a Tormat unit, the controller, a receiver/amplifier unit, and the necessary speakers. The result was a stereo system with excellent sound and a convenient way of accessing and playing up to 50 albums. There was even a (wired) remote control available as an accessory.More information on these scarce units are available at:http://jukeboxes.home.comcast.net/~jukeboxes/HSCPage.html#Home_Stereo_Console_Facts
Note that this machine is in good shape for it's age, but is does need some work. It sort of cycles, but the tuner does not work and we do not get any sound. It probably needs an amp rebuild minimally, and the contacts cleaned, etc. It appears complete but no guarantees. The cabinet is super solid and unmolested and there is no loose veneer of any kind that we could detect. Scroll down to see the many, many photos of this machine.
This machine would make a great addition to the collection. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer project jukebox for the money and when you look at the age. Best of all, there is NO RESERVE. We will let the market determine the value on this RARE piece. Best of luck in the auction.
Now for the fine print: Because of it’s age and the above, it is sold
strictly as-is-as shown. That being said, please see my feedback and bid
with confidence. If you have not owned a jukebox before, these are not
CD players, and being 50 years old can be temperamental and are not
meant for continuous use all day long. These are meant for occasional
use and not for continuous or bar usage. In addition, there are scrapes
and scuffs on the box as you can see in the photos. The good news is
that they reproduce most of the jukebox in the event of a problem, and
there are many people that repair them. The most likely time of trouble
is when they are moved. This example would make a great addition to
anyone’s rec room, bar room, media room, or arcade.
