The pamphlet measures 9 inches by 6 ¼ inches, not
paginated [20 pages], stapled binding, printed wrappers, minor soiling and
shelf wear to the covers otherwise in excellent condition, tight & intact,
not ex-library, odor free.
Illustrated throughout with 15 b&w photographs of views
of Edgell Grove Cemetery, to include: Avenue Entrance, Superintendent’s
House, Well House, Edgell Memorial Chapel, numerous
interior views of the cemetery.
There are 3 pages of text about the planning and history of
the cemetery and an additional page of the names of the Trustees, Original
Board and Superintendents.
Tipped on the verso of the title page is a facsimile
broadside of the: Order of Exercises at
the Consecration of the Cemetery, Oct. 13th, 1848.
Eight lines from the first verse of the poem, “A Forest Hymn”, by William Cullen
Bryant printed on the front cover.
A truly scarce copy, no copies for sale on the net and OCLC
search locates only 2 copies in institutional holdings.
